Pramono Assures Alphard Violated the Rules of Breaking the Red Light at HI Roundabout, Emphasizing that the Security Guard is Innocent

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung ensures that security officers (security guards) who reprimanded the driver of an Alphard car for breaking through a red light in the HI roundabout area will not be dismissed. Based on CCTV footage owned by the DKI Provincial Government, it was the car that committed a traffic violation.

Pramono admitted that he had watched the CCTV footage from the scene several times, specifically at the crossing between the Pullman Hotel and the Grand Hyatt. According to him, the footage owned by the DKI Provincial Government shows a more complete chronology than the video circulating on social media.

"As for the fate of the security guard, I will ask that he not be fired or dismissed. In fact, the person concerned actually carried out his duties very well," said Pramono at the DKI Jakarta City Hall, Friday, July 24.

From the results of the CCTV search, Pramono said the Alphard car first violated traffic rules by breaking through the red light. The DKI Provincial Government also received information that the vehicle was suspected of using a fake number plate.

"It looks like the Alphard car that was then violated. And then we also got a report that the car using the plate was a fake plate," he said.

Pramono assessed that the action of the security guard who reprimanded the driver was part of the implementation of the task of maintaining order. Therefore, he asked law enforcement officers to follow up on the alleged violations committed by the driver if the problem could not be resolved properly.

"So that the person who corrects should be given sanctions, and I have asked law enforcement officers, if this cannot be resolved well, of course those who act as if they are in power even though they are wrong, they must be sanctioned," said Pramono.

Pramono again emphasized that the security guard was not worthy of receiving sanctions because he carried out his duties according to procedure. He said that the CCTV footage owned by the DKI Provincial Government had clearly shown the sequence of events, including the identity of the person suspected of committing the violation.

"So for the security guard, once again I ask that he not be fired and continue to be employed as usual because it is the security guard who carries out the task and everyone sees from CCTV and CCTV that is more complete that is actually owned by the DKI Jakarta Government. The angry face we also know once," he said.

For information, the incident began when Vicol Harefa was on duty guarding security in the pelican crossing area of the HI Astra roundabout.

On Wednesday, July 22, when the traffic lights for vehicles were red and gave pedestrians the opportunity to cross, a Toyota Alphard car was seen driving through the road markings.

Spontaneous because of frustration seeing the violation that endangered the road crossing, Vicol tapped the glass of the Alphard car while reminding the driver that the lights were red.

The car then drove slowly, and Vicol approached again to confirm his warning. However, the situation heated up when the driver and the other two passengers got out of the vehicle.

Vicol admitted that he was pushed by the three people. To avoid more serious commotion and congestion on the highway, Vicol invited them to resolve the issue at the Thamrin Police Post (Pospol) which is near the location of the incident.

On the way to Pospol, Vicol claimed that he still received unpleasant treatment in the form of encouragement from the Alphard party. Upon arrival at Pospol, the three behaved arrogantly and claimed to be officers by showing the Member Identification Card (KTA).

After the Head of Pospol arrived and listened to the chronology, Vicol was actually reprimanded for being considered not entitled to hit the car window.

Hearing the reprimand, the Alphard asked the vendor where Vicol worked and threatened to fire him. Feeling desperate and having no way out, Vicol finally apologized and knelt before the three of them.

Even though they had shaken hands twice, the incident continued when they were about to leave Pospol. The driver of the Alphard pulled Vicol's shirt collar and warned him not to act like a thug. Vicol also reiterated his readiness to apologize and considered the incident a lesson.
