JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto considers Indonesia to be in a better situation than other nations amid the crisis in the Middle East region which has an impact on the rise in world energy prices.
"What we are experiencing now, the crisis in the Middle East that makes energy prices soar, we must believe and we must be grateful that our nation is in a much better condition than other nations," said the President in a briefing at the Cabinet Red and White government working meeting at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, Wednesday, April 8.
Prabowo said that based on the data and reports he received from the ministers, the domestic situation was considered quite safe, although there were still challenges and difficulties to be faced.
The Head of State said the crisis in the Middle East had pushed up energy prices, but Indonesia was still able to deal with it and overcome the various impacts that emerged.
"After I studied the numbers, I received a report from my minister, it turns out that our condition is quite safe. There are challenges, there are difficulties, but we are able to face and overcome them," said Prabowo.
In his briefing, Prabowo also touched on the importance of natural resource management which is a fundamental factor in the life of a nation.
According to him, this has been emphasized by the founding fathers through the 1945 Constitution which mandates that the earth, water, and natural wealth must be controlled by the state for the greatest prosperity of the people.
"There are countries that are rich in oil and gas, but have no water. What do I want to say to you? These things are so important, these things are so fundamental, and this has been underlined by our founding fathers," said the President.
