JAKARTA - The government announced a work and energy transformation package that will take effect on April 1, 2026. The package includes work from home for ASN, energy savings, restrictions on official vehicles, refocusing the budget, to the B50 policy and arrangements for the purchase of fuel.

Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto said this step was taken to face global dynamics while taking advantage of the momentum of change.

"This situation is not an obstacle, but rather a momentum for us to accelerate modern and efficient behavioral changes," said Airlangga in Seoul, South Korea, Tuesday, March 31.

Airlangga said the government assessed that the national economy remained stable, with solid fundamentals, safe fuel stocks, and maintained fiscal policy. On this basis, the government launched eight national work culture transformation items that will be strengthened with energy policies.

The contents of the policy include WFH for ASN every Friday, encouragement of WFH for the private sector, 50 percent efficiency of official vehicles, reduction of domestic official travel by 50 percent and abroad by 70 percent, as well as appeals for energy savings and use of public transportation.

The government also emphasized that there were sectors that were excluded, namely public services and strategic sectors such as health, security, industry, energy, water, food, trade, transportation, logistics, and finance. Basic to secondary education continues to take place face-to-face five days a week.

"This overall policy is part of a structural transformation towards a more efficient, productive, and resilient economy," said Airlangga.

In addition, the government will implement B50 starting July 1, 2026, regulate the purchase of fuel with a MyPertamina barcode of a maximum of 50 liters per vehicle, and optimize the MBG program which is said to have the potential to save Rp20 trillion.
