JAKARTA - PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) recorded a surge in the number of passengers during the two days of Eid al-Fitr 1447 H. The special tariff policy of Rp. 1 is considered to encourage public interest in using public transportation.
Corporate Secretary Division Head of PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) Rendy Primartantyo revealed that the total number of customers on the two Eid days reached more than 135 thousand people, significantly increased compared to the previous year.
"PT MRT Jakarta recorded 135,117 customers using the MRT Jakarta service on two Eid days 1447 H. This figure increased compared to the same period during Eid 2025 by 76,106 customers," said Rendy in his statement, Thursday, March 26.
On the first day of Lebaran, Saturday, March 21, the number of passengers was recorded at more than 51 thousand people. This figure is almost double compared to the same period last year with a total of 28,930 people.
"Meanwhile, on the second day of Eid, Sunday, March 22, the number of customers was recorded as 83,928 people, an increase from 47,176 people the previous year," he said.
Overall, there was an increase of 59,011 customers on the two Eid days compared to the previous year.
According to Rendy, this increase shows the high enthusiasm of the public towards public transportation, especially when special tariffs are imposed.
MRT Jakarta also assesses that this trend needs to be balanced with the development of network and intermodal connectivity so that public access is easier.
"In line with this, PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) encourages the acceleration of the development of network and interconnections between modes, as well as the development of areas around the station to increase the ease of accessibility for the community," explained Rendy.
In the future, MRT Jakarta believes that the use of public transportation will continue to increase, both on weekdays and during certain moments such as long holidays.
During the Lebaran holiday period, MRT Jakarta will continue to operate on a weekend pattern, starting at 05.00 to 24.00 WIB with a departure interval every 10 minutes.
The service is said to continue to run normally without interruption, as community mobility increases during the Lebaran holiday.
"During this period, MRT Jakarta services will continue to run optimally so that the public can enjoy a safe, comfortable, and memorable journey," he said.
