Polda Metro Appeals to Citizens Not to Convoy at Night Takbiran

JAKARTA - The Traffic Directorate (Ditlantas) of the Metro Jaya Police appealed to the public not to carry out a convoy on the night of takbir.

"(People) can enrich the mosques in the surrounding areas, in their own neighborhoods. So, we hope that there will be no implementation of convoy activities," said Head of the Metro Jaya Police Traffic Unit, Kombes Komarudin, as reported by ANTARA, Friday, March 20.

As for security for the night of takbir, he said that joint personnel from the National Police, TNI, and other related institutions would be deployed.

He said, specifically on the Jalan Jenderal Sudirman-MH Thamrin section, Central Jakarta, hundreds of personnel will be deployed to secure the takbiran night which will be held for the "Jakarta Bedug Kolosal Night of Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah" event.

"For the Sudirman-Thamrin Road section itself, no less than 557 of our personnel were injured because there are several roads that we will later engineer, including anticipation in case there are many enthusiastic people who will come to this place," he said.

It is known that the "Jakarta Bedug Kolosal Night of Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah" event will be held at 20.00 WIB until it is completed.

At the event, a "Pawai Obor Malam Takbiran" will also be held with a route through the Southwest Gate of Silang Monas-HI Roundabout-MH Thamrin Street-HI Roundabout.

During the activity, a vehicle-free night or Car Free Night will be implemented along Jalan Jenderal Sudirman-MH Thamrin starting at 20.00 to 22.00 WIB.
