Minister of Foreign Affairs Sugiono welcomes Indonesian citizens from Iran who have been successfully evacuated.

Jakarta - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemenlu) has successfully evacuated 22 Indonesian Citizens (WNI) from Iran and returned to Indonesia. This is the first wave of WNI.

The process of evacuating Indonesian citizens from Iran was carried out through Baku, Azerbaijan. At least the government has prepared 2 waves of evacuation. First, as many as 22 Indonesian citizens who have arrived safely at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Tangerang, Banten, Tuesday, March 10.

Then the second wave, 10 more Indonesian citizens at Soekarno-Hatta Airport on Wednesday, March 11. As for the Indonesian citizens who participated in the first wave evacuation consisted of 10 Indonesian Workers, 1 Lecturer/Journalist, 14 Students/Students, 2 PMI, and 5 Tourists.

The Indonesian citizens will then be assisted by the Regional Government to continue their journey to their respective home areas.

Based on the records of the Indonesian Embassy in Tehran, the number of Indonesian citizens recorded in Iran is 329 people, the majority of whom are students or students with a main concentration in the city of Qom, and the rest are Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) and expatriates.
