BGN: 49 SPPG Temporarily Discontinued for MBG Program Evaluation

JAKARTA - The Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) Dadan Hindayana said that until now there are 49 Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG) that have been temporarily stopped, as a step to improve the system and evaluate the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program thoroughly.

"The total SPPG that is currently suspended (temporarily suspended) is 49 units. This is part of the process of improvement and supervision that we continue to carry out," he said as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, March 3.

However, of this number, four SPPG have been allowed to resume operations after undergoing an evaluation process and were found to meet the standards set by BGN. The four SPPG are in Bengkulu, South Kalimantan, and Papua provinces.

"Of the four SPPGs, we have allowed them to operate again because they have met all the improvements we have asked for," said Dadan.

According to him, the temporary cessation mechanism is carried out if there is a discrepancy in operational aspects, raw material quality, and food safety procedures. During the suspension period, SPPG is required to carry out a thorough repair before returning to serving beneficiaries.

BGN ensures that every SPPG found to have discrepancies in operational or food safety aspects will be immediately evaluated and temporarily stopped until improvements are made.

"The principle is not merely to stop, but to ensure the quality and safety of the service. If it meets the standards again, of course we will allow it to operate again," he said.

BGN ensures that the supervision process continues to be tightened to reduce the potential for incidents and increase public confidence in the government's priority programs in meeting national nutrition.

The policy of temporarily stopping SPPG was taken as a step to thoroughly evaluate the standards of hygiene, food safety, and compliance with operational procedures which are the main requirements for the implementation of the MBG Program.
