Kick Off Jakarta Ramadan Festival, Pramono invites residents to go home to Jakarta

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov) officially started the series of the Jakarta Ramadan Festival on Friday, February 27, 2026.

This activity will last until March 31, 2026, with religious, cultural, entertainment, and shopping promotion agendas during Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr.

The kick off was held at the Bundaran Hotel Indonesia area and was led directly by the Governor of DKI Jakarta, Pramono Anung.

"Various activities include the Jakarta Light Festival and the Jakarta Festive Wonder. The main theme is 'Traveling to Jakarta'," said Pramono at the HI roundabout, Central Jakarta, Friday, February 27.

Carrying the theme "Traveling to Jakarta", the Provincial Government wants to encourage residents to continue to be active and shop in the capital during the Ramadan and Lebaran moments.

A total of 101 shopping centers are participating in the Jakarta Festive Wonder program. The transaction target is pegged at IDR 15 trillion, up from the previous achievement of IDR 13 trillion. This program offers discounts of up to 70 percent, midnight sales, shopping draws, UMKM corners, to payment campaigns using QRIS.

Apart from malls, the hospitality and travel sectors are also joined. There are pay 2 get 3 nights hotel promos at 26 hotels, shopping vouchers at eight ITC Group outlets, discounts on tourist areas, discounts on Citilink airline tickets and Indonesian Railway travel to Jakarta, to private city tour packages.

"We will provide ease, including tax incentives for shopping centers and hotels so that they can provide significant discounts. At its peak, I believe the discount can be up to 70 percent," said Pramono.

A number of agendas are prepared to enliven public spaces. The Jakarta Light Festival with the theme Ramadan Light in Jakarta is held from February 19 to March 24, 2026.

Every afternoon from 16.00-17.30 WIB, Harmoni Ramadan Jakarta presents hadroh, marawis, qosidah, and nasyid. On the opening day, the Jakarta Rebana Ramadan Kolosal was held at HI Roundabout, one hour before breaking the fast.

This performance combines traditional rebana with modern arrangements in a large ensemble format. Cross-cultural celebrations are also included in the festival series, including the ogoh-ogoh parade in the context of Nyepi Day in several regions of Jakarta.

Meanwhile, on the night of takbiran on March 19, 2026, Eid Mubarak Jakarta will be held through a fountain show at HI Roundabout.

To maintain the stability of the prices of basic necessities, the DKI Provincial Government held a Cheap Market and Ramadan Bazaar in the sub-district, RPTRA, and the City Hall yard. The commodities sold include rice, cooking oil, sugar, eggs, and chicken meat.

In the creative economy sector, the Jakarta Eid Modest Fashion 2026 was held in Tanah Abang as the national textile center, involving designers and UMKM players. The Provincial Government also provides free public transportation during Eid al-Fitr.

"Rather than being stuck or shopping abroad, it's better to stay in Jakarta. Jakarta provides everything," said Pramono.

In addition, 690 buses were prepared for the free homecoming program which is targeted to serve around 26,500 travelers. Regarding security, Pramono ensured that all series of activities had been prepared. "For security, we will certainly do the best we can," he added.
