DENPASAR - Bali Governor Wayan Koster took advantage of a meeting with the Minister of National Development Planning (PPN)/Head of the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) to ask for support in the construction of a number of infrastructure.

"Currently we are focusing on improving infrastructure in a number of regions such as Buleleng, Karangasem, Tabanan and others, this is aimed at equalization, I ask the Minister to encourage it to be more stable," said Koster as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, February 12.

Koster in the meeting explained Bali's achievements in 2025 such as Bali's economic growth which was cumulatively recorded at 5.82 percent, an increase of 0.34 percent compared to 2024.

The per capita income of the people of Bali in 2025 also increased to reach Rp72.66 million, up Rp5.34 million compared to the previous year of Rp67.32 million.

In the midst of this increase, the Bali Provincial Government continues to strengthen infrastructure as a priority program, so Koster needs the assistance of the central government.

Previously, Governor Koster had met with the Minister of Public Works in Jakarta to get support, so he hopes that the push will also come from the Minister of PPN Rachmat Pambudy.

The infrastructure development that he said needed support was the certainty of the sustainability of the Gilimanuk-Mengwi Toll Road along 96.84 km.

"We need certainty about the sustainability of the construction of this toll road because it is very important to solve congestion," he said.

Not only land routes, the Bali Provincial Government also needs capacity improvement at three ports, namely Celukan Bawang, Amed and Kusamba as logistics routes.

Governor Koster assessed that this was very important, so that logistics vehicles from Ketapang could go down at Celukan Bawang Port.

If the existence of these three ports can be strengthened, it will reduce the volume of logistics vehicles that pass through land routes and have often caused congestion.

"This (three ports) will disperse the congestion that usually occurs due to the high mobility of logistics transportation," he said.

At the request for support for this infrastructure development, the Minister of PPN/Head of Bappenas Rachmat Pambudy emphasized to help Bali to be more advanced and developed.

According to him, Bali is a mirror of Indonesia in the eyes of the world, so the government is ready to support the development of infrastructure which is a supporting factor in the region.

"Not only land and sea, but also air, including digitalization infrastructure must also be accelerated," said the Minister of Public Works.

As proof of seriousness, in the middle of the meeting, the Minister of Public Works immediately called several related ministers.

However, he still reminded the Bali Provincial Government to strengthen other sectors such as agriculture, because from his records when COVID-19 the agricultural sector became a buffer for Bali's economy.

Deputy for Macro Planning and Development of the Ministry of PPN, Eka Chandra Buana, added that a number of Bali infrastructure projects are certain to be included in the national planning agenda, including the sustainability of the Gilimanuk-Mengwi Toll Road.

"There is LRT (Integrated Cross-Country), while for the new airport it is still in the scheme stage," he said.
