Due to Online Content, Property Entrepreneur Reports Defamation at Polrestro Jakpus

JAKARTA - An international property entrepreneur named Iwan Sunito reported a defamation allegation to the Central Jakarta Metro Police.

As a result of defamation, the personal and global corporate reputation that he leads is also affected. In addition, other negative impacts are also related to investor relations and cross-country activities.

Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Central Jakarta Metro Police, AKBP Roby Heri Saputra confirmed the report from Iwan Sunito regarding defamation at the Central Jakarta Police.

"Yes, there is a report, and we are still investigating," said AKBP Roby, Saturday, January 31, 2026.

The defamation report was addressed to the respondents with initials PS, AA and PT K HL & Partners. A number of respondents, according to the reporter Iwan, are suspected of playing a role in the planning, preparation, and distribution of broadcasts and online content containing inaccurate information and forming negative perceptions of himself and the company.

"The impact of the series of reports is not only reputational, but also hits global investor relations and cross-jurisdictional business activities," said Iwan in a statement received, Saturday, January 31, 2026.

According to Iwan, the publication describes as if there were a failure to fulfill business obligations, associating business activities in Indonesia with a narrative that is not complete and unbalanced, and presenting the context of legal cases abroad in a partial manner so as to potentially mislead the public and investors.

In his report to the police, Iwan also asked for an investigation into the alleged role of intermediaries in the process of distributing information, including the possibility that the US acted as a liaison in arranging the issuance and publication of media.

The complaint was filed by referring to Articles 310 and 311 of the Criminal Code and Article 27 paragraph (3) of the Information and Electronic Transaction Law.

Iwan stated that if the investigation proves that a crime has been committed, then the sanctions in accordance with the laws and regulations should be imposed, including imprisonment, fines, and the obligation to recover losses.

"The value of the losses requested to be recovered in this legal process is estimated to reach AUD 50 million, or around Rp500 billion," he said.

In his statement, Iwan Sunito emphasized that the legal step was taken as an effort to seek clarity and protect reputation.

"I submitted this report not to judge anyone, but to ensure a fair clarification, legal accountability, and protection of reputation," he said.

He also expressed his readiness to be cooperative and submit all supporting documents so that this case can be processed objectively, professionally, and transparently in accordance with applicable laws.

"I fully respect the legal process and leave the investigation to the Indonesian National Police," he said.
