Pati Regency Government in Central Java extended the emergency disaster response status following the still impact of floods and landslides in a number of areas.
Acting Regent of Pati Risma Ardhi Chandra said the emergency response status was previously set from January 9 to January 23, 2026, then extended for the second phase from January 24 to February 6, 2026.
"This extension is carried out because Pati Regency is still affected by floods and landslides in several areas," he said in Pati, Sunday, quoted by Antara.
He explained that at the beginning of the emergency response, there were more than 100 villages affected. Until now, the number has decreased to around 51 villages, but the potential for disasters is still quite high.
Chandra expressed his appreciation to the State Civil Apparatus (ASN) of Pati Regency, the joint SAR team, TNI, and Polri to volunteers who continue to work in the field to help handle disasters.
He also thanked various parties who had provided assistance, including the Indonesian Republic Corps (Korpri) which had provided assistance of Rp. 100 million to ease the burden of affected people.
According to him, Pati Regency is one of the areas with high potential for disasters in Central Java. Several areas have experienced repeated flooding, requiring long-term handling.
"In the future, there are areas that need more permanent solutions, including the possibility of relocation or provision of new land for affected residents," he said.
For this reason, the Pati Regency Government hopes for the support of the Central Java Provincial Government so that the handling of recurring floods can be carried out more comprehensively and sustainably.
Meanwhile, the Regional Secretary (Sekda) of the Central Java Province, Sumarno, explained that the determination of the emergency disaster response status is in principle the authority of the local government, and is adjusted to the level of impact that occurs.
"The determination of the emergency disaster response status is regional. The provincial government is in a position to support and facilitate as needed in the area," he said.
Sumarno emphasized the importance of the readiness of the apparatus in facing disaster situations. One of them is a healthy physical and mental condition as the main capital of ASN in carrying out public service duties in times of crisis.
"When disasters occur, health is the main capital so that ASN can continue to work and serve the community well," he said.
