JAKARTA - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Thursday that a delegation of Ukraine, Russia, and the United States will hold a trilateral meeting in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE) for the first time on Friday and Saturday.

President Zelensky made the announcement as he gave a speech at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland.

"Now they are heading to Moscow, and my team will talk to US representatives. This will be the first tripartite meeting in the Emirates, tomorrow and the day after. I hope the UAE knows it, because Americans generally like to surprise everyone, but this meeting must take place," explained President Zelensky, launching Anadolu (23/).

Regarding his talks with US President Donald Trump, President Zelensky said the meeting "went well" and documents on ending the war were almost ready.

"I really hope that Russia is ready to compromise, because it is not only the Ukrainian side that must be ready to compromise," he added.

President Zelensky himself did not provide further details, such as the time or number of delegates for the meeting in Abu Dhabi, but said: "Maybe the meeting will not happen immediately, maybe we have to wait. But tomorrow and the day after, we have scheduled a three-party meeting. It's better than no dialogue at all."

Separately, a White House official confirmed to Anadolu on condition of anonymity that talks would take place in Abu Dhabi on Friday and Saturday.

Earlier, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov on the same day confirmed that President Vladimir Putin plans to meet with US representatives on Thursday evening.

Meanwhile, US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff said he and US President's son-in-law Jared Kushner would travel to Moscow on Thursday night and then head straight to Abu Dhabi, where the working group meeting is scheduled.
