ASN Involved in Online Gambling in Cianjur Threatened with Dismissal

Cianjur - The Cianjur Regency Government, West Java, has imposed strict sanctions up to dismissal against the State Civil Apparatus involved in online gambling or online gambling because it is considered a serious violation.

Cianjur Regent Mohammad Wahyu Ferdian said he had issued a stern ultimatum to all ASN in the Cianjur Regency Government to not be involved in online gambling and other illegal acts.

"We impose strict sanctions on ASN who are involved in online gambling because it is included in a serious violation that can lead to legal sanctions and personnel sanctions," said Wahyu, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, January 21.

Since taking office, he said, his party has instructed all heads of Regional Apparatus Organizations (OPD) to carry out strict supervision of their subordinates, including routinely checking the mobile phones of employees.

This is done to maintain the integrity and professionalism of ASN as well as prevent social and economic impacts due to online gambling practices, when it is found that there are ASN who still store or access online gambling applications, they will be sanctioned in accordance with applicable regulations.

"We ask the heads of departments and sections in each department to routinely conduct inspections to ensure that there are no online gambling sites or applications on the employees' mobile phones," he said.

The Head of the Cianjur Human Resources Development and Management Agency (BKPSDM) Akos Koswara, said he had received a report regarding a teacher with a PPPK status who was caught in the act of stealing by force to pay off online gambling debts.

He explained that the actions taken by the MIR teacher were in the category of gross violations, the penalty was dismissal as a PPPK, where his party was still waiting for an official letter from the Cianjur Education and Sports Office to dismiss the person concerned.

"We immediately made a termination letter for MIR (33) a PPPK teacher who was involved in the case of robbery and abuse of an elderly woman in Sukanagara District, after receiving an official report from the Cianjur Education and Sports Office," he said.

As reported by the Cianjur Police, arresting the perpetrator of the MIR (33) violent theft who works as a teacher at a high school in Cianjur, which caused grandmother Sopiah (69) to suffer serious injuries and lost Rp126 million in jewelry.

Cianjur Police Chief AKBP Alexander Yuriko Hadi, said the perpetrator was determined to steal from the elderly residents of Sukakarya Village, Sukanagara District, who were still relatives because they were entangled in debts of hundreds of millions from online gambling.

"The perpetrator is still a relative of the victim, so the victim does not feel suspicious, but seeing the situation the house is empty, the perpetrator immediately strangled and abused the victim to take gold and diamond jewelry worth Rp. 126 million," he said.
