Tangerang - South Tangerang (Tangsel) Mayor Benyamin Davnie formed a special team to accelerate the control of waste problems in seven sub-districts. This step is being taken as an effort to strengthen waste handling which has recently gone viral and become the focus of public attention.

According to Benyamin, this special team will work together with the Ministry of Environment, which has facilitated a number of programs, ranging from the establishment of a waste bank, data collection on waste processing, reduce, reuse, recycle (TPS-3R), to mapping critical points in each region.

"Later the results will be used to determine what the next steps should be," said Benyamin to the media at the Tangerang City Hall, Wednesday, January 14.

Benyamin said that this special acceleration team consists of more than 140 people, with dozens of personnel spread in each sub-district. This team consists of representatives from ministries, sub-district heads, village heads, to neighborhood managers, who are tasked with encouraging RTs and RWs to have active waste bank groups.

When asked about the most critical area, Benyamin explained that almost all sub-districts faced similar problems. However, there are three areas with the highest level of waste problems,

"The three highest areas, Ciputat Timur, Ciputat, and Serpong. This is quite critical in handling waste," he explained.

He emphasized that solving the waste problem must start from upstream, namely the community environment. Therefore, the formation of waste bank groups and the optimization of TPS-3R are mandatory steps that must be immediately carried out.

"Starting today (starting). The distribution of tasks and implementation in the village also begins today," concluded Benyamin.
