JAKARTA - Deputy Governor of Bangka Belitung Hellyana admitted that there was a possibility that the fake diploma he had was a criminal controversy at this time.

This was conveyed by Hellyana's lawyer, Zainul Arifin, after accompanying Hellyana to undergo an examination at the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police on Wednesday, January 7.

"So far we believe that the mother does not know whether it is genuine or not," Zainul said in his statement to reporters.

In fact, Zainul admitted that the certificate from Azzahra University which was indicated as a fake had been used for his political interests so far.

"Because during the time he received the degree in 2012, it has been used on several occasions. The 2018 Belitung Regent Election, then the DPRD Provincial Pileg," he said.

With the status of suspect he experienced, Hellyana then blamed the Azzahra University and planned to cancel it.

"The civil lawsuit for unlawful acts that we suspect there are unlawful acts committed by the University as Defendant I, the Rector at that time as Defendant II, Defendant I also includes the Lentera Az-Zahra Foundation, Defendant II also includes the PD Dikti," he said.

Meanwhile, Hellyana then explained that she had deliberately used the executive track to get the diploma.

"So at Az-Zahra we follow the executive class, Saturday-Sunday class. So because at that time I was a member of the Belitung Regency DPRD, but my husband was at that time at the PN (District Court) Central Jakarta. So Saturday-Sunday I usually stay in Jakarta," he explained.

When confirmed about the evidence of the presence of his lecture activities, Hellyana was also unable to explain clearly. In fact, Zainul Arifin then immediately tried to cut off the PPP cadre's explanation.

"Only if asked how many there are of all kinds, yes, maybe I've forgotten because it was a long time ago. It's not necessarily detailed," said Zainul.

Not only that, the Hellyana party also admitted that they did not have documentation during their study activities from 2011 until they got their diploma. Hellyana argued that he did not like documenting his activities and was only limited to graduation time.

"Yes, there is (a photo from a cellphone), I just don't like the photo," said Hellyana.
