Police Ensure UIN AMSA Ambon Situation Conducive After Youth Clash

JAKARTA - The police have ensured that the situation in the area where there was a clash between groups of young people in the campus area of the State Islamic University of AM Sangadji (UIN AMSA), Ambon City, has been conducive.

The Head of the Ambon Island and Lease Islands Police, Kombes Pol Yoga Prima Putra Setya, said that the conditions around RW 019, the UIN AMSA area were gradually normal after the joint apparatus carried out intensive security and persuasive approaches to the community.

"The situation has begun to be conducive. The activities of the residents are also gradually returning to normal. The Police Chief and the Deputy Governor have directly descended to the location to ensure the security conditions as well as dialogue with the residents," he said in Ambon, Monday, quoted by Antara.

He emphasized that the police would continue to increase patrols and security in vulnerable areas to prevent subsequent clashes and ensure that kamtibmas stability is maintained.

"Even though the situation is under control, we will not tolerate any actions that can disrupt security. There have been many victims from both sides, so anyone who carries sharp weapons or other dangerous materials will be dealt with according to applicable laws," he said.

In addition, he also appealed to all people in the City of Ambon to refrain from being easily provoked by issues that could complicate the atmosphere, and to fully entrust the handling of security to the authorities.

"We invite all elements of the community to work together to maintain peace and security so that Ambon City remains safe and conducive," he said.
