BMKG Warns of Potential Rain and Lightning in Several Areas

JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) reminded the public to be aware of the potential for light rain to be accompanied by lightning in a number of areas on Monday, December 15.

BMKG weather practitioner, Selly Brilian, quoted by Antara, Monday morning, said that the potential for light-intensity rain was expected to rain on Pekanbaru City, Tanjung Pinang, Bengkulu, Pangkalpinang, Bandar Lampung, Padang, Jambi, Palangka Raya, Tanjung Selor, Denpasar, Mataram, Kupang, Makassar, Kendari, Manado, Sorong, Ambon, Manokwari, Nabire, Jayapura, and Merauke.

Heavy rain is potentially raining in Medan, Semarang, Yogyakarta, Jayawijaya.

Meanwhile, heavy rain and lightning are expected to occur in Palembang, Surabaya, Pontianak, Banjarmasin, and Samarinda.

Furthermore, in the cities of Banda Aceh, Serang, Jakarta, Bandung, and Ternate, it is estimated that it will be thick clouds to fog.

According to BMKG, the combination of atmospheric dynamics is one of the factors that affect the weather conditions.

The Bakung cyclone in the Lampung Indian Ocean is expected to increase in the next two days with wind speeds of 25 knots in category two, forming an area of wind speed deceleration of up to 25 knots in the western Lampung Indian Ocean.
