Khofifah ensures that 2 bridges in Lumajang affected by disaster will be completed soon

LUMAJANG - East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa ensures that two bridges affected by flood and landslide disasters in Lumajang Regency will be completed by the end of 2025 to restore connectivity for local communities.

"The construction of the Curah Maling bridge and the Curah Kebo bridge in Kandangan Village, Senduro District, which has an impact on community mobility will be completed before December 31, 2025," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, December 13.

He asked the parties concerned to expedite the completion so that the reconstruction process of the bridge that was broken due to the impact of flooding and landslides would be completed soon.

"We have seen the construction of the bailey bridge that has been ordered. Then the foundation and the bridge were also installed," he said.

According to him, several repair techniques on the two bridges carried out by the East Java Provincial Government through the Public Works (PU) Bina Marga, one of which was the addition of the width of the bridge, which was previously 3.5 meters to 4.2 meters.

"The estimated completion of construction is December 31, 2025, so that the mobility of residents is expected to return to normal," he said.

Khofifah hopes that the two bridges will be completed on time to rebuild the connectivity of one community with another because they are intended for two sub-districts.

"Hopefully the recovery of this bridge can rebuild the connectivity of the community in the economic, service, goods and education sectors more smoothly," he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of Kandangan Village Jumanang thanked Governor Khofifah and Regent Lumajang Indah Amperawati for the faster construction of the bailey bridge so that the mobility of the community was immediately met smoothly.

"I assess that the construction of the bridge was carried out very quickly because it is a necessity for community activities in two villages," he said.

For information, the bridge that connects the two sub-districts was broken on September 19, 2025 due to heavy rain and flooding and landslides, then on November 5, 2025, repairs began with a bailey bridge model made of pre-fabricated steel that is portable and can be dismantled and installed.
