JAKARTA - A number of traders were injured and lost money due to the beatings and destruction that killed debt collectors in the Kalibata area, Pancoran, South Jakarta, on Thursday, December 11.

"Out of fear, because this has been burned, we are looking for a way so that how do the four of us don't get caught on the ground. Until, yes, the condition is injured like this," said one of the employees who worked in the Kalibata culinary area named Andi, quoted from ANTARA, Friday, December 12.

The man, who has been selling for 20 years, along with other employees, had to climb a thorny fence and hide in the office area of the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri).

Even though his hands and feet were injured, at that time the most important thing was his life saved.

They hid in the Ministry of Home Affairs building until the situation and conditions on the ground were fairly safe. They also admitted that they were resigned to the losses suffered.

"Yes, this is a chiller machine, a freezer machine, then there is a safe of all kinds and this has not been able to count everything," said Andi.

In fact, previously a number of traders had closed access using access doors, but a number of individuals were able to push in and burn kiosks and stalls.

Meanwhile, a steak trader named Henny Maria admitted that he had been selling at the location since 2022. He had renovated two tents and one kiosk in September 2025.

"What we regret is that we became victims of injustice from a handful of individuals who in my opinion carried out riots inappropriately, that's all," said Henny.

To build his business, he admitted that he borrowed money from a bank of almost Rp. 97 million, but this does not include other goods, electricity, and buildings.

According to him, three digits of funds are needed to renovate the kiosk as a whole, especially considering the cost of renting a kiosk that is not cheap in Jakarta.

"Then, this renovation also has three digits of value, yes, with the addition of those that depend on life now, I don't know when and how to start again, we don't know," said Henny.
