JAKARTA - A car carrying free nutritious food (MBG) numbered B 2093 UIU crashed into a number of students who were in a ceremony at the sports field at SDN Kalibaru 01, Cilincing District, North Jakarta, Thursday, December 11, morning.

SDN 01 Kalibaru teacher, Tedy, said the incident occurred at around 07.00 when hundreds of students had sat on the field to participate in weekly literacy activities.

There were no suspicious signs that the loud sound suddenly came from the direction of the school gate.

According to Tedy, the school gate collapsed before the car carrying MBG logistics drove and broke through the crowd of students who were sitting.

The situation immediately turned chaotic, with teachers and staff trying to save students who were closest to the car collision lane. There were students who were run over when the collision occurred.

"We immediately evacuated the children, because someone was run over. We immediately secured the driver. All students have been rushed to the hospital," Tedy told reporters, Thursday, December 11.

This incident left 21 people injured, consisting of 20 students and one teacher. The victim was immediately taken to the nearest health facility.

Most of the students were treated at Cilincing Hospital and puskesmas around the location. Meanwhile, students with injuries requiring further treatment were taken to Koja Hospital.

"We rushed five other victims to Koja Hospital," said Head of the North Jakarta Health Sub-dept., Murniasih Hutapea.

Murniasih said that the total number of victims who had received treatment reached 21 people. The victims were students who were in the field area and one teacher who was also hit while helping with the evacuation.

"We rushed the victims to Cilincing Hospital and puskesmas. Meanwhile, we rushed the other five victims to Koja Hospital for intensive care," he said.

Meanwhile, from the information circulating, the car driver stepped on the brake pedal wrongly into a gas pedal so that the car slid into the school field.

Meanwhile, the Head of Public Relations of the Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Budi Hermanto said that he had arrested a driver who hit a number of elementary school students in the North Jakarta area.
