JAKARTA - The United Nations (UN) on Tuesday confirmed it was against any changes to the border of the Gaza Strip, Palestine and Israel.
This was conveyed following the claim of the Israeli Military Commander who declared a new border in the Palestinian enclave based on the retreat line of his troops.
Israel's adoption of the so-called "yellow line" of US President Donald Trump's ceasefire as a new border appears "contrary to the spirit and content" of the agreement, spokesman Stephane Dujarric told reporters, reported by Anadolu (10/12).
Dujarric stressed that the United Nations "firmly opposes any changes to the border between Gaza and Israel," clarifying that when the United Nations discussed Gaza, what it meant was the original border, "not those inside the yellow line."
The comments follow a statement by Israel's Chief of Staff Defense Force (IDF) Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir who reportedly said, "the yellow line is now Gaza's new border."
Lieutenant General Zamir also said Israel would maintain "operational control over most of the Gaza Strip."
The ceasefire agreement took effect in Gaza on October 10 based on Trump's 20-point plan, halting Israeli attacks over two years that have killed more than 70,000 victims, mostly women and children, and injured nearly 171,000 people since October 2023.
The first phase of the deal includes the release of Israeli hostages in exchange for Palestinian prisoners. The plan also discusses the rebuilding of Gaza and the formation of a new government mechanism without Hamas.

The deal also regulates the withdrawal of Israeli troops back to the yellow line in the Gaza Strip, a boundary marked above ground in several places with a yellow concrete block.
Israel itself continues to occupy more than 50 percent of Gaza's territory under a ceasefire agreement, with the yellow line separating Israeli military deployment zones from areas where Palestinians are allowed to move.
