Troubled Floating Pier Of Marampa, West Papua Prosecutor's Office Confiscates Documents During A Search Of The Department Of Transportation And The Legal Bureau

MANOKWARI - West Papua High Prosecutor's Office (Kejati) investigators confiscated a number of important documents after searching two offices of West Papua Provincial Government Regional Apparatus Organizations (OPD), namely the Department of Transportation and the Legal Bureau, today.

Head of the Legal Information Section of the West Papua Prosecutor's Office, Rachmad Sentosa, said the confiscation was carried out to strengthen the evidence in the investigation of alleged corruption in the construction of the floating jetty of Marampa.

"In order to strengthen the evidence in the investigation of the case," said Rachmad in Manokwari, Antara, Tuesday, December 9.

The Marampa floating dock construction project in Manokwari, which was carried out in the fourth phase of 2016 and the fifth stage of 2017 by the West Papua Transportation Agency, cost Rp. 23.7 billion.

Investigators found allegations of corruption by the implementing contractor PT Iqra Visindo Teknologi and PT Amsui Papua Karya as consultants. Initial findings show that the stages four and five projects did not match the contract value.

"We are still waiting for the calculation of state losses by the BPKP auditors," said Rachmad.

So far investigators have examined a number of parties, including budget user power, commitment maker officials, supervisory consultants, and contractors.

The fourth stage floating dock work was carried out based on contract Number 555/756.A/HUBKOMINFO/2016 worth IDR 19.3 billion. The fifth stage was carried out based on contract Number 552/463/DISHUB-PB/IX/2017 worth IDR 4.4 billion.

The results of the investigation corroborated allegations of violations, ranging from the quality of concrete below the standard contract to the inappropriate volume of employment.

State losses based on the examination of construction experts are estimated at around Rp. 17 billion, consisting of Rp. 14.3 billion in 2016 and Rp. 2.7 billion in work in 2017.
