Electricity In North Sumatra After Floods And Landslides 100 Percent Recover

PT PLN has succeeded in restoring 100 percent of the electricity system for all areas affected by floods and landslides in North Sumatra (North Sumatra).

"The success of this recovery is the result of hard work between PLN officers and all elements that strengthen support in the field," said PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo in a statement received by ANTARA, Monday, December 8.

According to the direction of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia, he said, all PLN personnel worked hard to penetrate difficult locations to complete electricity recovery at all points affected by the disaster.

According to him, this success is also the full support of the regional government, TNI/Polri, and the community, at the disaster site.

"The challenge is extraordinary, but the enthusiasm to bring light to the people in North Sumatra is much greater," he said.

General Manager of PLN, North Sumatra's Main Distribution Unit (UID), Mundhakir, explained that the recovery process was carried out by prioritizing aspects of safety, speed, and accuracy.

We involved 949 personnel with strict security procedures. Many points can only be reached on foot while carrying heavy materials," he said.

He said officers must follow the cliffs and muddy routes, to isolated areas.

Mundhakir added that as many as 103 auctioners who were previously affected have now returned to full operation and PLN ensures that all customers in isolated areas will turn on gradually.

"The recovery settlement is not only a technical success, but evidence that cross-party collaboration is able to penetrate the hardest terrain," he said.

PLN stated that Sorkam District, Central Tapanuli Regency, was the last area to return to light on Sunday (7/12), marking the completion of the post-disaster recovery that hit since November 25, 2025.
