PDIP Calls Law Enforcement Unfair Due To Ecological Disasters

Secretary General of the PDI-P (PDIP) Hasto Kristiyanto said the recent disaster was due to weak law enforcement against environmental destroyers.

This was conveyed when he opened the West Java PDIP DPD Regional Conference (Konferda) in Bandung, Sunday, December 7. This activity took the theme 'Sabilulangan Nawat Bumi' which was in line with Megawati Soekarnoputri's order as the party's general chairman to love and protect nature.

"This ecological disaster arises because of the absence of just law enforcement," said Hasto, quoted on Monday, December 8.

Hasto reminded that politics that prioritizes the environment should not be just a program. Megawati's habits to care for plants and the environment, he said, should be imitated.

In fact, Hasto recounted his experience of tracing the Ciliwung River at the request of its general chairman in 2012. He called the event a symbol of the importance of protecting the source of life.

"We planted the white banyan tree in the spring. That's the answer to Mrs. Mega's question about where Ciliwung started," he said.

Hasto asked all party structures in West Java to make the river the front page of life. "Citarum, Ciliwung, rivers are the history of our civilization," he said.

Furthermore, Hasto also conveyed Megawati's message so that PDIP cadres do not leave the history of the struggle and continue to maintain the ideological spirit. However, this struggle must be manifested in concrete actions, especially in preserving the environment.

"If we are diligent in caring for this earth, then Bung Karno and Mrs. Mega's beliefs, nature will love us too," he said.
