President Prabowo Approves IDR 4 Billion Aid Per Aceh Sumatra Region Affected By Disaster

BANDA ACEH - President Prabowo Subianto decided to allocate IDR 4 billion per district/city in disaster-affected areas in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra for the needs of residents, especially infants and women.

The decision was taken after the Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian reported that the unexpected expenditure budget (BTT) in 52 districts/cities of three provinces affected by the disaster, namely Aceh, West Sumatra, and North Sumatra, was in a thin condition because it was the end of the year.

In a dialogue with the President in Aceh, the Minister of Home Affairs explained that even though the central government has sent large-scale food, fuel, and rice assistance, the area still lacks funds for urgent needs that are immediately needed by people in evacuation areas such as baby diapers and sanitary napkins, which are usually requested by residents to district/city governments.

"Usually what we find when we come to the field, such as pampers for babies, then for women, and others. And usually they ask the government to enter the area," said Tito.

He added that a number of provinces outside Sumatra had actually distributed inter-regional support of Rp. 34 billion, including assistance of Rp. 3 billion to Lhokseumawe. However, this is considered not enough because regional fiscals are very limited.

Therefore, Tito asked the President to consider providing additional funds.

"If possible, you are pleased, these 52 regencies are because the conditions are really thin, if possible, you can help Rp2 billion for their handling, to help the community in these small things, sir."

Prabowo immediately responded.

"What is that, per district?" asked Prabowo. 'As of district, 52 times 2, sir,' replied Tito.

However, Prabowo then decided to give much bigger than the proposal of the Minister of Home Affairs.

"Pak Mendagri, Anda minta Rp 2 miliar per kabupatennya. Saya berikan Rp 4 miliar.

Additional Support For Provinces Of Up To IDR 20 Billion

In addition to assistance per district/city, Prabowo also requested that the needs of the provincial government be calculated separately.

For the province, the province will be calculated later. Which province is the largest? The hardest is right? Send 20 billion. How much North Sumatra will be, the governor will tell me to meet you later.

When confirming that all governors were present, Prabowo emphasized that the central government would stand behind them.

Improvement Of Government Offices And Proposal For Freeness Of Documents

In the dialogue, the Minister of Home Affairs also reported that many sub-district offices and village offices were severely damaged. This condition has the potential to hinder public services and cause many public documents to disappear, ranging from ID cards, diplomas, certificates, to vehicle documents.

Tito suggested that the costs for re-managing the documents be abolished.

"For ID cards documents under our Ministry, we have freed them, sir. But maybe those for diplomas from the Ministry of Education and Culture Dasmen, then the STNK'BPKB from the National Police Chief, the ATR'BPN certificate, so as not to burden them, are free of charge."

Prabowo responded: 'Okay, everything will be calculated later.'

Closing the meeting, Prabowo gave encouragement to the regents who attended.
