JAKARTA - Ahead of the Christmas and New Year's (Nataru) holidays, the flow of tourism and community mobility is expected to increase, especially towards the Puncak tourist area.

However, in the midst of busy travel preparations, the Cianjur Police reminded the public not to use the Puncak II alternative route because the condition of the route is considered unsafe to pass.

Kasatlantas Cianjur Police AKP Hardian Andrianto said the decision was taken after the police together with the Cianjur Transportation Agency, BPBD, and Satpol PP checked directly in the field.

"We found that there are still many landslide-prone points that close the road runway and narrow the road at a number of points and potholes, making it difficult for motorists to pass," he said in Cianjur, Sunday.

Hardian explained that a number of cliffs along the route still have the potential for landslides, especially during heavy rains. Even though there is already public street lighting, the number is still very limited and has not been able to support the visibility of motorists, especially at night.

"There is already road lighting after we provided input on the survey at the beginning of the year or to be precise during Operation Ketupat 2025, but the minimum number is around 3 units every 2 kilometers," he said.

Instead, the Cianjur Police recommended the Jonggol route in the event of severe congestion on the main Puncak Line. However, motorists are still asked to increase their vigilance, especially when it rains.

"We recommend the Jonggol route as an alternative when there is a long line on the Puncak Line, but motorists are asked to be careful and vigilant, especially when it rains heavily," he said.

In addition to the Puncak II route, Hardian also reminded road users to be careful in a number of disaster-prone sections such as Puncak Cipanas Pegunang Haurwangi to the southern route of Cianjur which is often hit by landslides, fallen trees, and road damage every rainy season.
