Dirtipidter Bareskrim Polri Brigadier General M Irhamni, confirmed that the investigation into the findings of logs suspected of being one of the causes of flooding in Sumatra had begun. The investigation team has been formed to investigate whether there is a criminal element in the case.

"The investigation has started, the team has been formed to find out whether there is a criminal incident or not. If it is found, it will be continued," he told the media in the Istora Senayan area, Central Jakarta, Wednesday, December 3, 2025.

In addition, regarding the information on the existence of eight companies that are said to be related to logs, he emphasized that this could not be ascertained.

"Not necessarily. We also don't have a permit (there is a permit or not), we are currently verifying, we are conducting an investigation," he said.

In fact, regarding the origin of the logs found to be carried away by the flood currents, he explained that his party was still tracking the source.

"Yes, the source is official or unofficial, whether there is a permit or not," he said.

When asked about the suspicion that one of the sources of wood came from the Central Tapanuli (Tapteng) area, as previously voiced by DPR member Masinton Pasaribu, he reiterated that the investigation had not yet led to a specific point.

"Not necessarily, not specific yet, so it's still being investigated," he concluded.
