JAKARTA - The Riau Police continue to make intensive efforts in the search for members of the Riau Police Ditreskrimum, Ipda Angga Mufajar, who disappeared during the flash floods and landslides that hit the Padang Panjang area, West Sumatra.

The entire process is carried out in a coordinated manner with the strength of personnel who work from morning to late night, following the development of the situation and post-disaster field conditions.

The Head of Public Relations of the Riau Police, Kombes Anom Caribbeanto, ensured that the search team worked along the Twin Bridge River, where the victim was traveling to six tributaries, which had the potential to become a route for victims. Currently, Kombes Anom is still at the disaster site.

Kombes Anom explained, on Monday, December 1 night, the sweeping activities were carried out until 24.00 WIB and resumed on Tuesday, December 2 morning with additional personnel from the Kampar Police.

"The search process involves the Riau Police Ditreskrimum team, Kampar Police Criminal Investigation personnel and Padang Panjang Police, local residents as directional points, as well as West Sumatra Mapala volunteers who understand the characteristics of the river flow in the area," said Kombes Anom, in his statement, Tuesday, December 2.

Kombes Anom explained that the search was carried out by combing the riverbanks, checking basins, piles of flood materials, and points that were considered to have potential for the discovery of victims.

"All members in the field work with caution, consider the safety of personnel, and continue to coordinate with Basarnas, TNI, BPBD, volunteers, and elements of the West Sumatra regional government," he explained.

Outside the search operation for Ipda Angga, Anom continued, the Riau Police also deployed 290 personnel as part of cross-province humanitarian support to help the people of West Sumatra who were affected by the disaster.

These personnel were deployed to various affected points to carry out the evacuation of victims, logistics distribution, the establishment of refugee tents and public kitchens, opening of road access covered by landslide materials, and helping strengthen health services and emergency rescue in the field.

Kombes Anom said that the humanitarian mission was a form of state presence to help the brothers who were hit by the disaster, as well as ensure that all urgent needs of the community could be handled quickly and appropriately.

"All operations, both the search for Ipda Angga and the overall disaster management, will continue to adjust the dynamics of the situation on the ground as long as the emergency response period is still ongoing," said Kombes Anom.
