JAKARTA - A married couple (couple) was arrested by members of the Kalideres Police for being caught as couriers of methamphetamine. Both were arrested at a rented house in the Tambora area, West Jakarta.

From the raid, 19 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine were secured from a couple with the initials ML (43) and RS (41).

West Jakarta Metro Police Chief Kombes Twedy Bennyahdi said the arrest of the lovebirds began with a public report. The two lovebirds were arrested on Friday, November 21, 2025.

"Based on the development of the previous case, members of the Kalideres Police received information about transactions that often occur in Krendang regional boarding schools," said Kombes Twedy, Tuesday, December 2.

When searched, he continued, evidence was found in the form of 19 large black packages of methamphetamine containing narcotics with a total weight of 19,000 grams or 19 kilograms.

The police chief explained that this couple received methamphetamine from someone with the initials AB.

The two of them even bought tickets to pick up goods in Pekanbaru.

"So ML's brother and sister of the hospital bought tickets by the two people who were in Pekanbaru to go to Pekanbaru to take the goods. After that, this item was directed to be brought by land transportation to Jakarta," he said.

According to the Police Chief, the 19 kilograms of methamphetamine is planned to be brought back to Pekanbaru. However, this couple can be arrested first.

"It has not been circulated and sent yet, it has been caught first by units moving in the field," he said.

From the confessions of the two perpetrators, both of them were desperate to become couriers because they were tempted by a large enough wage.

Both were promised Rp26 million if their work was completed according to plan.

In addition to cash, this couple is also tempted by the promised wages of one package of methamphetamine.

"If they succeed, this will get a salary from AJ's brother of Rp. 26 million, plus one bag of black packages that contained methamphetamine," he said.

The perpetrator was charged with Article 114 paragraph 2 subsidiary Article 112 paragraph 2 Junto Article 132 paragraph 1 of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics.
