Minister Of Religion: Indonesia Grows Strong Because People's Harmony Is Maintained

Minister of Religion (Menag) Nasaruddin Umar revealed that Indonesia can grow strong because of the harmony of the people that continues to be maintained.

This was conveyed by Minister of Religion Nasaruddin Umar at the National and Walk for Harmony Sholawat activity held by the Directorate General of Islamic Guidance in Surabaya.

"Walk for Harmony invites us to step together, strengthen our determination to continue to maintain harmony in diversity," said the Minister of Religion in his statement in Jakarta, Saturday.

The event carried the theme Menyukuri Rahmat, Caring for the Harmony of the Ummah, and Spreading the Kindness of Zakat and Waqf. According to the Minister of Religion, this event presents a spiritual and social message.

According to him, prayer connects people to the example of the Prophet, a figure who makes compassion and brotherhood as the breath of everyday life.

According to him, in the context of plural national life, the value of affection and brotherhood is an important asset to prevent social friction.

"This event is a collective space for people to remember the essence of religious life: love each other, respect differences, and build harmony," he said.

The Minister of Religion also mentioned the strategic role of zakat and waqf in driving social good. The two Islamic philanthropic instruments, said the Minister of Religion, have great strength in building welfare if managed with trust and professionalism.

He added that when managed properly, zakat and waqf can become a source of people's strength, strengthen solidarity, and expand the impact of social empowerment in the community.

"Zakat and waqf are good ways, which unite caring, help others, and move prosperity," he said.
