138 Cases In The Last 3 Years, DKI DPRD Urges Police To Dismantle Child Kidnapping Syndicate

The rise of kidnapping and trafficking cases in recent years has attracted the attention of the DKI Jakarta DPRD. Legislators assess that the police must move faster and systematically to dismantle the network of perpetrators who are said to threaten child safety in various regions.

Chairman of Commission A of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Inggad Joshua, said decisive action needed to be taken immediately considering that the case caused unrest in the community.

"The rise of this incident shows a weak system of child protection that is easily misused by criminals," said Inggad at the DKI Jakarta DPRD Building, Friday, November 28.

Data from the Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) noted that there were 138 cases of kidnapping and trafficking throughout 2021'2024. This figure shows a pattern of repeated and increasingly organized crime.

Inggad menilai situasi tersebut harus menjadi alarm bagi aparat penegak hukum untuk memperkuat langkah pencegahan dan mempercepat respons setiap laporan.

"Children's safety must be a priority for the state and do not let their handling be careless. The state must be present. Early detection, quick response, and public education are key," said the Gerindra faction member.

Similarly, Deputy Chairman of Commission A of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Alia Noorayu Laksono, emphasized that every report of missing persons, especially children, should not wait long to get a follow-up from the police.

Alia said that increasing the capacity of human resources (HR) in the police was an urgent need, including monitoring performance and improving standard operating procedures (SOP) for handling cases of violence against children and missing persons.

"The safety of citizens, especially vulnerable groups such as children, is a mandate that cannot be negotiated. This is a priority. The DPRD will continue to oversee it," he said.
