Restaurant Visitors Become Victims Of Pertamina Gas Cylinder Explosion In Kelapa Gading/ Photo: IST

Three people were injured as a result of an explosion of LPG gas cylinders that occurred in the kitchen area of VW Kircheni Restaurant, Jalan Boulevard Barat, Kelapa Gading Timur Village, Kelapa Gading District, North Jakarta, Wednesday, November 26. The explosion was then followed by a fire.

Kelapa Gading Police Chief, Kompol Seto Handoko Putra said the incident began when a witness with the initials ZD (46), who was an employee of the kitchen, wanted to boil eggs using gas cylinders to cook.

"There were three people who were injured in the explosion," said Kompol Seto when confirmed, Wednesday, November 26.

When the incident took place, at the location there were also two visitors who were drinking coffee. When ZD wanted to use the 3 kilogram gas but couldn't. ZD then changed it to a gas measuring 12 kilograms.

ZD keeps a gas measuring 3 kilograms next to a 12 kilogram gas cylinder. Then ZD saw a gas of 3 kilograms that was not used to emit gas.

Then ZD moved the 3 kilograms of gas to the plate washing area.

However, because the 12 kilogram gas that had connected to the stove was on, the fire then grabbed a 3 kg gas cylinder that emitted gas until a fire broke out. Witness ZD was then thrown and hit by building materials.

"Two visitors were also victims of the incident. The fire was extinguished by 4 fire engines," he said.

The police chief said there were no casualties in this incident.

"The material loss cannot be estimated, what is clear is that the Rukan VW Kitchen kitchen room was affected by the explosion," he said.

Officers have processed the scene of the case, asked for witness statements and asked the North Jakarta Metro Police Inafis Team to identify them.

"The victim has also received treatment at the hospital," he said.
