BOGOR Commemoration of National Teacher's Day and the 80th Anniversary of the Indonesian Teachers' Association (PGRI) is used as a momentum to improve the welfare of teachers in Indonesia, including in Bogor City. Deputy Mayor of Bogor, Jenal Mutaqin, emphasized the commitment of local governments to improve various problems that have been burdening educators.

Jenal made this statement after becoming the inspector of ceremonies at the commemoration of the 2025 National Teacher's Day at the Bogor City Level at Kresna Square, Bantarjati, Tuesday, November 25.

According to him, the theme of this year's commemoration, Strong Indonesian Professor, illustrates the commitment of the central government through the Ministry of Education and Culture so that teachers not only focus on teaching, but are also able to develop local wisdom and adapt to technological developments, although technology is not the main goal.

Jenal said that the government realized that various incentives and allowances for teachers were still not optimal, but efforts to increase were carried out. In 2026, the opportunity to continue the study with scholarships opened for 150,000 teachers. The allowance for honorary teachers was increased from IDR 300,000 to IDR 400,000," he said.

A number of policies are also implemented to ease the administrative burden of teachers. Teaching obligations are no longer absolutely 24 hours per week, administrative tasks are reduced, and one special day for teachers to study in a week is available. This step is intended so that teachers can focus on carrying out their main duties as professional educators.

Responding to the teacher shortage, the Bogor City Government is reviewing the involvement of university students in teaching and learning activities through an internship scheme. Students can help teach according to the field of education they are involved in. It's just a financing scheme. There is an alternative from school BOS, but we are still exploring whether it collides with existing regulations. Because we still have to obey the moratorium," explained Jenal.

In addition to the internship scheme, the option of merging several schools is also considered to overcome the teacher's deficit. "Maybe not all of them, but we minimize it," he said.

The government hopes that this series of policies can improve the quality of education while ensuring teachers get proper rights and support in carrying out their professions.
