JAKARTA - Hezbollah Chief of Staff Haytham Ali Tabatabai was killed by the Israeli military amid a ceasefire agreement. The killings were carried out on the outskirts of the Lebanese capital.
Israel has also announced the killing. But Hezbollah, however, has not commented on this incident.
Israel is known to have eliminated most of Hezbollah's leadership during the raging war between October 2023 and November 2024, even as the US-brokered ceasefire was agreed.
Tabtabai, who had just been appointed Chief of Staff of Hezbollah after the ceasefire, also became a victim of Israeli attacks in military operations.

According to a senior Lebanese security source, Tabtabai was born in Lebanon to a father of Iranian descent and a Lebanese mother.
The source added that Tabtabai was not a member of the founder of Hezbollah, but part of the group's "second generation", which was assigned with the group to fight alongside its allies in Syria and Yemen.
The Israeli military said Tabtabai joined Hezbollah in the 1980s and held several senior positions, including in the Radwan Forces, an elite combat unit.
Israel killed most of Radwan's figures last year ahead of its land invasion of Lebanon.
During last year's war, Tabtabai led Hezbollah's operations division and was promoted while other high-ranking commanders were eliminated, according to an Israeli military statement.
The statement also said that after the ceasefire came into effect, Tabtabai was appointed chief of staff and "worked extensively to restore their readiness to fight with Israel."
Lebanese security sources confirmed that Tabtabai was promoted quickly after a number of other high-ranking Hezbollah officials were killed and have been appointed chiefs of staff over the past year.
Alma Center, a research and security teaching organization in Israel, said Tabtabai had repeatedly survived Israeli attacks, both in Syria and during the war in Lebanon.
