Deputy Minister Of Law Eddy Claims Community Concerns About The Criminal Code Are Over

Deputy Minister of Law Eddy Hiariej stated that there is no need to worry about the Criminal Code anymore, as is the concern of the Civil Society Coalition. According to him, the regulations for implementing the Criminal Code have been completed.

"If I hear what civilian community coalition friends are worried about, there are concerns regarding the regulations for implementing the Criminal Code itself. It is finished," said Eddy Hiariej at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Monday, November 24.

Hiariej explained, there are three regulations for implementing the Criminal Code which are in the form of Government Regulations. The first is Government Regulation on the guidelines for legal implementation that live in society. The second is Government Regulation on punishment, including action.

"And the third is the Government Regulation on criminal commutation. It has all been done," said Hiariej.

"If I see, what our civil society coalition friends are worried about is not to let this Criminal Code take effect but there are no implementing regulations. But I say the implementation regulations have been completed," he continued.

Hiariej said, there is no need to be afraid that the Criminal Code will criminalize people per person. Because he said, the Criminal Code talked about material laws accompanied by explanations.

"In fact, we include annotations in the National Criminal Code, thus providing guidance to law enforcement officials, especially investigators and public prosecutors, that this is the intention of the legislators to regulate things like this," he explained.

"So at all to prevent criminalization and arbitrariness from happening in law enforcement," added Hiariej.
