KPK: Nadiem Makarim Enters Prospective Suspect In Google Cloud Procurement Case

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) revealed that former Minister of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Mendikbudristek) Nadiem Anwar Makarim was one of the potential suspects in the alleged corruption case related to the procurement of Google Cloud at the Ministry of Education and Culture before the handling of the case was decided to be handed over to the Attorney General's Office.

"Yes, the same is NM," said Acting Deputy for Enforcement and Execution of the KPK Asep Guntur Rahayu at the KPK's Red and White Building, Jakarta, Thursday, November 20.

Asep conveyed this to explain further the statement by the Chairman of the KPK Setyo Budiyanto on November 18, 2025, namely that the potential suspect in the Google Cloud case is the same as the suspect in the alleged corruption case of the education digitization program at the Ministry of Education and Culture in 2019 2022 related to the procurement of Chromebooks handled by the Attorney General's Office (AGO).

He further said that another name that became a potential suspect for Google Cloud by the KPK was the former Special Staff of Nadiem Makarim, namely Jurist Tan (JT).

However, he said there were potential suspects who were different from cases that had been handled by the AGO. "So, something is different, but overall it's the same," he said.

Previously, the KPK revealed that it was investigating allegations of corruption related to the procurement of Google Cloud at the Ministry of Education and Culture.

The KPK emphasized that the investigation into the alleged corruption case related to Google Cloud at the Ministry of Education and Culture is different from the Chromebook case handled by the AGO.

On August 7, 2025, Nadiem Makarim was asked for information by the KPK in the investigation of the case.

Meanwhile, the AGO has issued an investigation warrant to investigate cases of alleged corruption in the education digitization program at the Ministry of Education and Culture in 2019-2022 related to the procurement of Chromebooks.

The AGO has named four suspects in the case, namely former Special Staff of the Minister of Education and Technology during the Nadiem Makarim era named Jurist Tan, former technology consultant at the Ministry of Education and Culture Ibrahim Arief, Director of the 2020 Ministry of Education and Culture Elementary School 2021 Sri Wahyuningsih, and Director of Junior High School Kemendikbudristek in 2020 2021 Mulyatsyah.

On September 4, 2025, the AGO named Nadiem Makarim as the new suspect in the case, following four people who had previously been named as suspects.

On November 18, 2025, KPK Chairman Setyo Budiyanto said the anti-corruption agency decided to hand over the handling of the Google Cloud case to the AGO.
