Customs And Excise Destroys 3.3 Million Illegal Cigarettes In Banjarmasin, Potential State Loss Reaches IDR 3.4 Billion

BANJARMASIN Regional Office of the Directorate General of Customs and Excise (DJBC) of Southern Kalimantan (Kalbagsel) destroyed 3,311,978 illegal cigarettes of various brands confiscated so far this year.

In addition, 383 kilograms of sliced tobacco and 1,652.29 liters of alcoholic ethyl were also destroyed.

"The total value of the goods destroyed is estimated at IDR 5.34 billion," said Head of the South Kalimantan DJBC Regional Office Dwijo Muryono in Banjarmasin, Antara, Thursday, November 20.

Based on calculations, the circulation of illegal Excise Goods (BKC) has the potential to cause state losses of up to Rp3,457,042,175 in terms of excise revenue.

All evidence violates Law Number 11 of 1995 in conjunction with Law Number 39 of 2007 concerning Excise, including the use of fake excise stamps, used excise stamps, to the circulation of goods without legal excise stamps.

Dwijo said this destruction was a form of commitment to South Kalimantan Customs and Excise with KPPBC TMP B Banjarmasin to eradicate the circulation of illegal BKCs as well as provide a deterrent effect for violators. This step also emphasizes the role of Customs and Excise in law enforcement, as well as protecting people and industries that obey the rules.

He added that the success of the prosecution could not be separated from the synergy established with various agencies, such as the TNI, Polri, the Prosecutor's Office, and other law enforcement officers.

One example of this synergy is the disclosure of illegal cigarettes by the Ditpolairud of the South Kalimantan Police on September 22, 2025, on the banks of the Martapura River, Banjarmasin, which managed to save potential state losses of Rp505,474,680 from 33,879 packs or 677,580 illegal cigarettes.
