JAKARTA - British Minister of Health (Menkes) Wes Streeting has again denied the issue that he will overthrow British Prime Minister (PM) Keir Starmer.

"I will not demand the resignation of the prime minister," Wes Streeting told Sky News, Wednesday, November 12.

This affirmation after a number of sources said PM would face many challenges related to his current leadership amid the drop in Starmer's electability.

While Wes Streeting has long been seen as a potential replacement for Starmer.

"I support the prime minister. I have supported him since he was elected as leader of the Labor Party," he continued.

The 42-year-old denied planning to occupy PM's position following the re-emergence of issues raised by pro-Starmer on Sunday last week.

"Keir tahu dia sudah berjuang dalam kontes kepemimpinan. Ketika saatnya tidak akan mengundurkan diri. Dia akan melawannya," kata seorang pendukung Starmer seperti dikutip oleh harian The Times.

The UK Government's electability-related survey has fallen since Starmer came to power in July 2024.

Despite a landslide victory in the election, his administration, Starmer, is still struggling on various issues such as economic growth and immigration.

In many national surveys almost this year, the UK Reform Party led by Nigel Farage, a Brexit figure, is at the peak of the party's current electability. With the score, the margin is double digits.

The next British election is expected to take place in 2029. The British government will hold a local election in May 2026.

Meanwhile, the challenges faced by the leadership of the Labor Party are requiring the support of 20 percent of party lawmakers, which currently means 80 nominations are needed.
