Ministry Of Transportation Anticipates Congestion-Prone Points Ahead Of Christmas-New Year

The Directorate General of Land Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation has prepared anticipatory steps at various points prone to congestion to ensure smooth transportation during the 2025 Christmas and 2026 New Year holidays.

"Although we organize this operation every year, the implementation this year can be different," said Director General of Land Transportation at the Ministry of Transportation Aan Suhanan as reported by ANTARA, Monday, November 10.

He emphasized that the initial preparations were made to ensure safety and smooth travel, especially at congestion-prone points during the year-end holidays.

"Last year's implementation can be used as a guideline so that we can prepare for Christmas and New Year's transportation to the maximum," said Director General Aan

One of the main concerns in preparing for Christmas and New Year's transportation is the Bogor-Ciawi-Sukabumi (Bocimi) toll road which has the potential to experience traffic congestion.

Aan assessed that Bocimi is a crucial point, especially in the toll exit section, so it needs to be a concern during the Christmas and New Year holidays this time.

"Traffic management on the Bocimi Toll Road needs to be maximized, there should be no traffic jams that trap road users. Then on the Simpang Parungkuda route there is also the potential for congestion, it is necessary to mitigate so that congestion does not occur," explained Aan.

He explained that his party had also coordinated with a number of relevant stakeholders in formulating strategies for the implementation of Christmas and New Year 2025/2026 transportation. This is done so that traffic management during the year-end holidays can run optimally and still prioritize safety.

"We anticipate that by directly mapping out congestion-prone points on arterial routes, one of the trouble spots is in Bocimi, during normal holidays this route can take a long time, so during the Christmas and New Year holidays it needs to be anticipated," he said.

"Then alternative routes also need to be prepared with clear directions to facilitate travel and not mislead road users," added Aan.

The results of mapping the congestion-prone points can be followed up with traffic engineering to prevent traffic congestion.

"In traffic engineering management, if there is a traffic jam in front of it, we must act at the previous intersection and do not make road users stuck in traffic jams," he said.

In addition, the Director General mentioned the importance of checking tourism transportation before the Christmas and New Year holidays began. He said that in the traffic management during the previous Christmas and New Year period, it was seen that many people traveled for travel.
