JAKARTA - The Kremlin claims it wants the Ukraine war to end as soon as possible, but efforts to resolve it have stalled.

The Kremlin spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, responded to a statement by US President Donald Trump last week, who said his war wish would end in the near future.

Peskov reiterated that the position of the war Kremlin could end after Russia achieved its goals, and Russia preferred to do so through political and diplomatic means.

"But at this time there is a pause, the situation is jammed. It's not because of our fault," he said, blaming Ukraine on Monday, November 10.

Ukraine and its European allies reject Moscow's accusations they are blocking peace efforts. There has been no face-to-face talks between Russia and Ukraine that have been going on since July 23.

Trump has tried to persuade Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to meet, but the Kremlin said such a summit could only take place in Moscow - a condition Zelenskyy rejected.

Zelenskyy has repeatedly said he is not convinced Putin is serious about seeking peace.

While Peskov said it was Kyiv who didn't want to continue the conversation.

"They are persuaded by all means by Europe, who believe that Ukraine can win the war and secure its interests by military means," he said.

He said it was a deep transcendent, given the situation on the battlefield.

Towards the end of the fourth year of war, Russia controls about 19% of Ukraine and is working hard to capture the cities of Pokrovsk and Kupiansk.
