JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government through the DKI Jakarta Provincial Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) has again carried out the Weather Modification Operation (OMC) as a precautionary measure to deal with potential extreme hydrometeorological disasters in the Jakarta area and its surroundings.
The implementation of the third day of OMC in November 2025 which was carried out in a sustainable manner by the DKI Jakarta BPBD in collaboration with the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) and the Indonesian Air Force (TNI AU).
OMC activity centered at Halim Perdanakusuma Airport, East Jakarta, Friday, November 7, uses the Casa A-2114 aircraft belonging to the Indonesian Air Force.
This operation includes two flight sorties. Sortie 1 was carried out at 09.07'11.22 WIB with the Semai area of Ujung Kulon National Park and Sunda Strait, at an altitude of 8,000'10,000 feet. Meanwhile, sort 2 was held at 12:53'15.28 WIB
Area Semai: the Sunda Strait region, covering the western waters of Pandeglang Regency and Serang Regency, at an altitude of 10,000'10,500 feet.

The Head of BPBD DKI Jakarta Province, Isnawa Adji, explained that the implementation of this operation was a continuation of a series of mitigation efforts carried out intensively to reduce the potential impact of extreme weather in Jakarta.
The third day of the Weather Modification operation continues to focus on unraveling the potential clouds of heavy rain carriers around the Sunda Strait and the western region of Banten. With this step, it is hoped that the intensity of rain entering the Jakarta area can be suppressed," Isnawa said in his statement, Saturday, November 8.
Isnawa explained that the observational results showed atmospheric conditions that supported the seeding process. In the first sortie, Cumulus and Stratus clouds monitored with peaks reaching 10,000 11,500 feet in the Ujung Kulon region and the Sunda Strait, accompanied by mild precipitation in the area.
Meanwhile, in the second sortie, the team detected Cumulus Congestus clouds with a peak of between 10,000'11,000 feet in the Pandeglang area and the southern waters of Pandeglang.
In addition, the supply of wet air masses from the southwest and west of Banten is still being observed to be active, which also supports the growth of rain clouds from morning to evening.
"We continue to evaluate this OMC activity every day with the BMKG and the Indonesian Air Force. The goal is that the distribution of rain can be controlled, so that the potential for inundation and flooding in the DKI Jakarta area can be minimized," added Isnawa.
BPBD DKI Jakarta Province appealed to the public to remain alert to the potential for heavy rain accompanied by strong winds and lightning, as well as ensure that waterways and drainage in the surrounding environment remain clean so that water flow is not clogged.
