Gibran: Suharto-Gus Dur Gives Great Contribution

JAKARTA - Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka assessed that the 2nd President of the Republic of Indonesia Suharto and the 4th President of the Republic of Indonesia Abdurrahman Wahid had made a big contribution and contribution to be given the title of national hero.

Vice President Gibran's statement in response to the names of the two former Presidents was included in the list of potential heroes submitted by the Council for Titles, Services, and Honors (GTK) to President Prabowo Subianto.

"I think the title for this hero has gone through a long process and stage," said Vice President Gibran when met after reviewing the Jragung Dam in Semarang Regency, Central Java, Friday, November 7, reported by ANTARA.

Gibran said the names of the national heroes candidates submitted by the GTK Council had gone through a long process and stages.

In addition, Gibran assessed that Suharto and Gus Dur had made a big contribution and contribution to the country.

"Moreover, these people make a big contribution and contribution to the country," said Gibran.

Gibran revealed that the 2nd President of the Republic of Indonesia, Suharto, had contributed greatly to food self-sufficiency and poverty alleviation.

"Mr. Harto, he contributed and made a big contribution to the development of food self-sufficiency, as well as poverty alleviation," said the Vice President.

Meanwhile, Gus Dur is considered to have greatly contributed to the issue of intolerance, protecting minorities and protecting human rights.

"Gus Dur greatly contributes to solving the problem of intolerance, the freedom to perform worship, protecting minorities, and also protecting human rights," said Gibran.

Meanwhile, President Prabowo Subianto received 49 names of candidates for national heroes from the Chairman of the Council for Titles, Services, and Honorary Signs (GTK) Fadli Zon, including the names of the 2nd President of the Republic of Indonesia General TNI (Ret.) Suharto and the 4th President of the Republic of Indonesia KH Abdurrahman Wahid.

Fadli Zon, who is also the Minister of Culture, explained that of the 49 names, 24 of them were names on the priority list.
