JAKARTA - An explosion occurred in the SMA Negeri 72 Jakarta school, Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta, Friday, November 7, afternoon. A total of 20 people were injured as a result of the explosion.

Based on VOI's monitoring at the scene, the joint forces of the Indonesian Navy and Brimob Polri continue to guard around SMA Negeri 72 Jakarta, Jalan Prihatin, RT 08/02, Kelapa Gading Barat Village, Kelapa Gading District, North Jakarta.

The authorities limit the activities of people who pass around the scene.

"The explosion from the sound system," said the firefighters in their report.

The incident was reported to have occurred at around 12.09 WIB. As of 14.10 WIB, the joint apparatus of the Indonesian Navy and the Brimob Police are still on tight guard in front of the school gates.

Brimob officers with complete weapons continue to stand guard. There has been no official statement from the authorities at the location.

Meanwhile, one unit of the Gegana Polri car arrived at the scene. Gegana members conducted a sweep of all parts of SMA Negeri 72 Jakarta.

From the information gathered by VOI, the explosion occurred inside the school mosque area during the Friday sermon.

As a result of the explosion, 20 people who were injured were taken to the nearest hospital using an ambulance belonging to the puskesmas.

One person was secured to the North Jakarta Metro Police on Friday afternoon in connection with the incident. The motive of the suspected perpetrator who was arrested is not yet known. Just to note, SMAN 72 Jakarta is in the Kodamar Navy Complex in Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta.
