The motorcycle theft gang with the mode of being a rented house was successfully dismantled by the West Jakarta Metro Police Satreskrim on Thursday, November 6, 2025.

In this syndicate, the police arrested 6 suspects with the initials UA, R alias D, U, J, S, and A with different roles.

West Jakarta Metro Police Deputy Chief AKBP Tri Suhartanto explained that the perpetrators were specialists in motorcycle theft who pretended to be residents of rented houses or boarding houses.

"These perpetrators came to the location, pretending to rent a rented house. They paid a down payment and asked for time to submit their identity. As soon as the situation was quiet, they launched their action," said AKBP Tri to reporters.

This mode is used so that the perpetrators can freely observe vehicles parked in the rented environment. Once the boarding house owner was careless, they grabbed the motorbike in the yard.

One of the locations of the incident is in the Joglo area, Kembangan, West Jakarta.

From the results of the investigation, the police found 8 units of stolen vehicles that had been secured as evidence.

"From the temporary investigation, we are handling two police reports, but it is possible that the number will increase," he said.

Meanwhile, the stolen motorbike was brought to Cianjur, West Java. The perpetrators sell it with a cash on delivery (COD) system through social media.

"After stealing, the vehicle was taken to the Cianjur border area for sale. We are still investigating the network of collectors and buyers involved," he said.

AKBP Tri stated that among the 6 perpetrators arrested were recidivists in the theft case who repeated their actions.

"They are old players. They have been in and out of prison and are still carrying out similar actions in different ways," he said.

For their actions, the suspects were charged with Article 363 of the Criminal Code.
