Habiburokhman: Commission III Of The DPR Still Continues To Listen To Public Input On The Revision Of The Criminal Procedure Code

JAKARTA - Chairman of Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Habiburokhman, said that his party continues to discuss the revision of the Criminal Procedure Code, by listening to input from various elements of society. This step is taken in order to obtain quality law products.

"Currently there are around 12 more parties that we will hear their statements in the RDPU which we will continue to hold during this session. Commission III is committed to continuing to listen and consider public input," said Habiburokhman at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Thursday, November 6.

"Nevertheless, currently input from the community is very diverse, there are even several things where one community input contradicts the input of the other community. Therefore, it is impossible for us Commission III to receive all input from certain groups," he continued.

Habiburokhman ensured that Commission III of the DPR would make the best decision and would explain to the public the reasons for making the decision.

"We reiterate that we carry out all stages of discussing the Criminal Procedure Code in a transparent manner. The most updated RKUHAP script can always be seen on the official website of the DPR," he said.

The next stage of the RKUHAP, said Habiburokhman, is holding a meeting of the perumus team and the synchronization team whose task is to complete the RKUHAP script specifically for the explanation section which will be held this afternoon.

"Furthermore, the RKUHAP Panja Team will convene to observe the work of the kitchen, timus and timsin teams whether they have complied with what was agreed upon or not. After that, the committee meeting was held again to discuss whether there were still proposals for changes or new input from fellow members of Commission III of the DPR," he explained.

After the panja meeting is complete, Commission III will hold a level I decision-making meeting, and make an effort if the RKUHAP discussion can be completed before January 1, 2026 so that it can accompany the Criminal Procedure Code which will take effect on January 1, 2026.

"However, whether or not the RKUHAP discussion will be completed before January 1, 2026, it will depend on the dynamics that occur at every stage of discussion. Yes, so it can be completed before January 1, it could also not be completed before January 1. But we will continue to listen to public input during the process," he concluded.
