1 Student Of UIN Walisongo Still Missing Dragged By Genting River In Kendal

KENDAL - State Islamic University (UIN) Walisongo Semarang confirmed that one student had not been found after being swept away by the current of the Genting River, Kendal Regency, Central Java.

Deputy Chancellor for Academics and Institutions UIN Walisongo, Prof. Mukhsin Jamil said, previously there were three students who were still being searched. Two of them have been found by the joint SAR team on Wednesday morning, namely Bima Pranawira and Muhammad Jibril Asyarafi.

Previously, six UIN Walisongo students who were undergoing the Real Work Lecture (KKN) program were swept away while playing in the Genting River, Getas Village, Singorojo District, Kendal, Tuesday at around 13.53 WIB.

Three students were found dead, namely M. Labib Rizqi (21) from Pekalongan, Syifa Nadila (21) from Pemalang, and Riska Amelia (21) from Pemalang, Central Java.

With the discovery of two other students, now only one student has not been found, namely Nabila Yulian Desi (21) from Bojonegoro, East Java. Mukhsin expressed his deep sorrow for the disaster.

Innalillahi wa inna ilaihi rajiun. We are deeply saddened by the passing of UIN Walisongo students who are struggling in service. May Allah SWT accept their deeds of worship and provide fortitude for the bereaved family," he said in Kendal, Antara, Wednesday, November 5.

He also expressed his appreciation to all search teams and the community who have helped since the beginning of the incident.

We are very grateful to the entire SAR team, volunteers, and the community who have been helping tirelessly since yesterday. We still hope and continue to pray that one other student will soon be found in the best condition," he said.

In this atmosphere of grief, UIN Walisongo provides intensive assistance to the families of the victims and other students. A team from the Community Research and Service Institute (LP2M), Field Guide Lecturer (DPL), and the UIN Walisongo Counseling and Spiritual Service Center were deployed to assist the identification process, recovery of bodies, and provide psychological support to fellow victims.

"We want to make sure families and students are not alone in dealing with this grief. UIN Walisongo will continue to accompany, provide moral and spiritual support," said Mukhsin.

Sebagai bentuk penghormatan, UIN Walisongo akan menggelar Saalat Ghaib dan doa bersama di seluruh masjid kampus setelah Shalat Dzuhur. Kegiatan ini juga menjadi wujud doa agar satu mahasiswi yang belum ditemukan segera diketemukan.
