JAKARTA - The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) emphasized that the Ompreng material for the Free Nutrition Eating (MBG) program must use stainless steel 304 which combines to provide resilience from the possibility of maturing and corrosion so that it is safe for eating and cooking utensils.

"This composition provides resistance to the possible appearance of carat and corrosion so that it is safe for eating utensils and cooking utensils," said Deputy Head of BGN Nanik Sdeyang in a statement quoted by Antara, Wednesday, November 5.

He said this was in response to the case of the production of the utensils which were proven to be fake after being dismantled by the police in North Jakarta.

The stainless steel 304 or SS 304 material, he said, contains 18 percent chromium, 8 percent nickel, and iron as the main element.

He explained that the stainless steel 304 is not toxic and does not react to food and drinks. Therefore, this composition meets strict health and safety standards for use in the MBG program.

"So, both turnover, eating utensils, and kitchen utensils must be in accordance with the specifications set," he said.

He appreciated the swift police move that succeeded in uncovering the alleged production of fake MBG turnover at a shophouse in North Jakarta on November 1, 2025.

"We are grateful to the investigators from the police who have uncovered this case of alleged production of fake MBG turnover," he said.

On Saturday (1/11), the Head of the North Jakarta Metro Police Criminal Investigation Unit AKBP Ongkoseno revealed an investigation related to the production of fake MBG turnover.

"The information is based on public complaints," he said.

The complaint revealed allegations of using fake Made in Indonesia labels, fake Indonesian National Standard (SNI) labels, and the inclusion of BGN logos without permission on these omnipreng products.

According to the police, the initial suspicion suggests that the product may have been imported from China, then labeled as fake to trick consumers. Police officers are now trying to trace the origins and composition of the MBG turnover that is starting to circulate in the market.

"We are still investigating it," he said.

The mode of counterfeiting the Ompreng MBG is quite complex. Based on the reports received, the goods were imported from China. After arriving in Indonesia, these products were then labeled Made in Indonesia, so they seemed to be produced locally.

The perpetrators also falsified the SNI label on the ompreng-opreng. In fact, the SNI label is a guarantee of quality and product security that is important for consumers. Counterfeiting this label can mislead the public and potentially endanger the health, especially if the materials used do not meet the standards.

In addition, the perpetrators attached the BGN logo without permission to the omnipreng products. This is suspected to be part of a counterfeiting attempt. The implementation of this BGN logo can give the impression that fake turnover products are official and trustworthy.

"Even though the MBG ompreng is affixed with a logo without permission," said Nanik.
