JAKARTA - Vice President (Vice President) Gibran Rakabuming Raka said there are 24 hospitals to be built in Papua according to the 2025-2029 National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN) document.

The construction of this health facility is one of the government's main focuses in improving health services and equitable access for people in six provinces throughout the Land of Papua.

"In the 2025-2029 RPJMN, there are 24 hospitals that will be built by the government in the Papua region," said Vice President Gibran during a meeting at the Manokwari State Finance building, West Papua, Tuesday, November 4.

The vice president said that the construction of the new hospital will be equipped with a number of facilities, including mamographic services, CT-scans, lab paints, MRI, and the availability of specialist doctors.

The presence of these facilities is expected to be able to answer the needs of public health services, so that Papuans no longer have to be referred to hospitals in Sulawesi and Java.

"This must be a concern for all of us. So that in the future, there will be no more Papuans having to undergo outside treatment," said Vice President Gibran.

The Vice President hopes that the establishment of two special institutions will have a positive impact on the government's efforts in realizing various development programs to improve the welfare of the Papuan people.

The two institutions in question are the Steering Committee for the Acceleration of Papua Special Autonomy Development (BP3OKP) and the Executive Committee for the Acceleration of Papua's Special Autonomy Development (KEP2OKP).

"Now there are two institutions. I ask for a double acceleration of development," he said.

According to him, equitable development in Papua needs to be carried out consistently and sustainably in order to provide benefits to the community, as well as reduce the gap between regions.

The central government needs accurate data from local governments, he said, so that program planning, budget allocation, and implementation of development are right on target according to community needs.

"Development in the Papua region cannot only be one year or two years, but is sustainable," said Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka.
