One Rp200 Million Flying For 25 Days Of Modification Of The Jakarta Sky, Pramono Ensures That The Budget Still Exists

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung revealed that the DKI Provincial Government will carry out weather modification operations (OMC) for the next 25 days to deal with the potential for high-intensity rain towards the end of the year.

Pramono said that his party had coordinated with the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) and the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) for the implementation of the weather modification.

"For the weather modification, we have coordinated with the central government," said Pramono in Lebak Bulus, South Jakarta, Tuesday, November 4.

He said the DKI Provincial Government had carried out OMC several times throughout 2025 and still had sufficient budget, at a cost of around Rp. 200 million for each implementation.

"It's still there. So the budget is still there for 25 days," he said.

Based on BMKG predictions, rainfall in Jakarta and its surroundings will increase significantly from November to February 2026. Therefore, Pramono emphasized the importance of early readiness so that there would be no delay in handling as in the past.

According to him, the flood management in Jakarta has so far been going quite well, although there are still several points affected by the broken embankment.

He added that the geographical position of Jakarta, which is located on the lowlands and passed by 13 rivers, always risks experiencing inundation during the rainy season. Threats also come from runoff from the Bogor, Depok, and Puncak areas.

The loss from Bogor, Depok, and Puncak areas is estimated to increase significantly with the potential for rainfall above 500 mm per month. In addition, the phenomenon of maximum tide of sea water which coincides with the full moon and perige phase has the potential to cause tidal flooding in the northern coastal area of Jakarta, "he explained.

To strengthen the flood control system, the DKI Provincial Government has prepared a number of technical steps such as dredging at 1,803 river points and reservoirs with a volume of 721,243 cubic meters, preparation of 560 stationary pumps in 191 locations, and 627 mobile pumps in five administrative areas.

In addition, the government has also built seven pump houses and floodgates to anticipate tidal waves, as well as implemented a nature-based solution approach in the construction of reservoirs, ponds and reservoirs.
