The PAN faction of the DPR agrees with the decision of the Constitutional Court (MK) which requires the presence of women leaders in every board equipment (AKD).

PAN asked other political parties to provide opportunities for female legislators to serve as leaders of factions and commissions in the DPR.

Chairman of the PAN faction, Saleh Partaonan Daulay, said that his party had always provided space for women to occupy strategic positions in the DPR AKD.

"There are those in the leadership of AKD and there are also those who are placed as Kapoksi in existing commissions. Even in this period PAN is the only faction led by women," Saleh Partaonan Daulay told reporters, Monday, November 3.

As is known, the seats for the chairman of the DPR PAN faction for the period 2024-2029 were occupied by Putri Zulkifli Hasan and the Faction Treasurer, Widya Pratiwi.

"Both of them are very competent. So far, all faction affairs are done well. In fact, Ibu Putri always reminds all members to really work for the benefit of the community. Moreover, currently the DPR often gets the spotlight," said Saleh.

Then, Saleh continued, the PAN faction also placed Putri Zulhas as Deputy Chairman of Commission XII, Desy Ratnasari as Deputy Chair of BURT, and a number of women members from the PAN faction who were trusted to be Kapoksi in various commissions.

"So far, the PAN heroines are working well. They always provide very good reports to factions on a regular basis. Even on certain issues, they actually initiate special programs in supporting commissions and government work," he said.

Therefore, Saleh said, the PAN faction agreed with the Constitutional Court's decision. He hopes that all factions in the DPR will carry out the final and binding decision. In addition, said Saleh, parties will also compete to recruit quality female candidates to be prepared as leaders at the AKD.

"In addition to the number, parties must also think about so that women's legislators can become leaders in the AKD. Starting from recruitment, training, coaching, and placement. All processes must really be carried out properly so that the quality and work results of the DPR will be better and oriented for the welfare of the people," he explained.

Even so, Saleh assessed that the existing factions must also think that women should also be given the opportunity to become leaders in their respective factions. Because, according to him, important and strategic decisions are usually discussed across faction leaders.

"Well, if it is women who lead, automatically all interests and policies taken will be gender-oriented and women's empowerment. This is not easy, but it must be implemented. The PAN faction is happy to have started it," said Saleh.

Saleh also asked all factions in the DPR to pay attention to women's representation in all commissions. After all, said Saleh, women have a very big interest in these commissions.

"Currently, women should not be perceived, they can only take care of household matters, but many of them have appeared on the global stage. In fact, there are very many families where the wife is the main backbone of the family," said the Deputy Chairperson of PAN.

The chairman of Commission VII of the DPR also said that currently there are more women in the commission. There are three women, and two men. So far, according to Saleh, the women leaders in Commission VII are working quite well, diligently and very seriously.

"That is why it needs to be emphasized that wherever and whenever, women must have a good and honorable place. Men and women have the same position. In fact, there are very many women who are of high quality above men," he concluded.
